Thatched cob cottage with modern extension. This listed building was painted with Mapei Silancolor paint, the main building being white and the plinth in charcoal black. The rear of the original building was traditionally repaired and painted with Earthborn Silicate Masonry paint.

This house needed painting and all the guttering replaced in metric rather than imperial.

Paint and Lime - Lime and cob repair
I started repairing cob buildings over 25 years ago. Learning which materials and tools to use. It soon became a labour of love. I repair old buildings using traditional materials (using mainly lime), rebuilding walls, rendering, repointing and finally repainting. I can repair almost any type of traditional wall, flint, cob, chalk or stone. Certain types of work, especially outside needs to be carried out during the warmer months (to miss frosts), and inside work can be carried out during the colder months.
I provide a simple service that involves consultancy, conservation (including listed buildings) and lime and cob repair; all the way through to the completed job. I also offer a painting service where I can paint interior walls using traditional and eco-friendly paints with specialist finishes such as marbling, dragging, colour washes and so on. If other skills are required, I can call upon a trusted group who will be able to help me when required.
I have worked mainly in Wiltshire, but cover the surrounding counties and have also worked on buildings in
North Devon.
If you need help with your building or outside walls, one simple call or email and I will be able to offer you advice, provide an estimate and carry out the repairs at a time to suit you.
